McPhar can trace its origins back nearly 50 years.   Since its founding, it has changed ownership several times, and has undergone several makeovers.   In the summer of 2002, a group of investors acquired a majority interest in McPhar Geophysics Ltd, and changed the company’s name to McPhar Geosurveys Ltd., to reflect changes in McPhar’s core business activities.    In early 2003, McPhar Geosurveys acquired many of the assets and hired many of the personnel of Aero Surveys Inc., an airborne geophysical survey contractor that specialized in high-resolution airborne geophysical surveying for mining and oil & gas exploration.

McPhar Geosurveys’ mandate is to provide a wide variety of contract geophysical services for domestic and international corporate and government clients, who are engaged in oil & gas exploration, mining exploration, groundwater exploration, and surveying for environmental and/or engineering applications.

The contract geophysical surveys we provide include the measurement of gravity, magnetic and electromagnetic forces and gamma radiation on the ground and/or from fixed-wing aircraft and/or helicopters.   The data acquired from such surveys are processed, mapped, imaged and interpreted at our data processing centres in Markham , Ontario , Canada or in Kolkata , India .

Alcock McPhar Geotech (Pty) Ltd. (AMG) was established in mid-2004 in Kolkata , India to service the burgeoning mining and oil and gas geophysical exploration markets in India .

Alcock & Co (P) Ltd of Kolkata , India is the other shareholder of AMG.  Alcock is a reputed manufacturer of Industrial and Laboratory Furnaces and caters to numerous government and corporate clients throughout India . Alcock was formerly the representatives of McPhar in India and have now joined hands with them as partners to jointly explore the huge potential of the Indian market.

The major activities of AMG include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Conducting airborne geophysical surveys for Oil and Gas exploration and Mining exploration, including kimberlites, base and precious metals, ferrous metals, ground water exploration and environmental surveys
   
2. Setting up off-shore workstations in India to undertake geophysical data processing, interpretation and analysis of surveys completed in India and elsewhere in the world.

McPhar-EXTRIPASA was established in mid-2004 to service the mining and oil and gas geophysical exploration markets in Latin America in general and Mexico in particular.   Incorporated as Mc-Ex Geosurveys S.R.L. de C.V in San Luis Potosi, but trading as McPhar-EXTRIPASA, the company is a Joint Venture between McPhar Geosurveys Ltd. and Exploraciones Y Triturados Del Pacifico, S.A. de C.V. (EXTRIPASA).
