Methods for Waving or Curling the Hair

A woman’s long hair can be like a blank canvas that an artist can work with to create a masterpiece. The difference would be that instead of a painter working on a canvas, a hairdresser will be grooming the hair. Also, instead of playing with different drawing materials such as paint and pencil, the hairdresser will have to work with scissors, comb, hair dye, and other media that can be used for the hair.

Curling or waving the hair can be a technique that a woman would want to do with her hair. The difference between curling and waving is the size of the curvature produced by the hair strands. Curling usually produces with small curves while waving produce with larger waves with minimal concentration of curves compared with curling.

There are several methods for curling or waving the hair and these include setting waves and curls permanent waves, and curling with an iron.   Setting waves and curls may be done by moistening the hair with water and cream then winding it around plastic curlers. When the hair has fully dried, it will remain curled until air moisture causes the curliness to fall.

Permanent waves make use of a chemical process which produces long-lasting curls unless new hair grows longer. Upon application of chemicals, heat is applied to enclose the chemical inside the hair strands.

Another method in curling or waving the hair is with the use of a hot curling iron. After combing the hair, it can be styled using the curling iron.
